Impact of polyculture in aquaponics on the hemato-serological and health status of Nile tilapia (<i>Oreochromis niloticus</i>) and carp (<i>Cyprinus carpio</i>)

Aquaponics is an innovative, eco-friendly, and sustainable food production system that combines hydroponic crop with recirculating aquaculture. This study aimed to assess the haematological, biochemical, health status of Nile tilapia common carp in monoculture polyculture systems. A total 800 (Oreochromis niloticus) (Cyprinus carpio) average body weight 1.1± 0.2 g were used. The fish divided into three groups: (I) contained only (monoculture), (II) (III) polycultured carp. results revealed a decrease red blood cell counts, haemoglobin levels, mean corpuscular concentration, hematocrit blood, indicating significant differences when compared blood. biochemical parameters except protein, glucose, urea significantly higher serum tilapia. Immunoglobulin variables lysozyme activity same fishes, confirming still fit good immunological under aquaponic system. Conclusion: cultivated systems (monoculture polyculture) fall within normal range for haematology biochemistry.
